Dr. Clark Hunstad
Dr. Clark Hunstad was born and raised in Aberdeen, SD. His interest in dentistry was sparked while shadowing his family dentist and seeing firsthand the impact quality dentistry has on individuals and the community. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities School of Dentistry.
Dr. Hunstad believes the foundation of exceptional care is the doctor-patient relationship. He has extensive training across General Dentistry, from orthodontics and implants to digital dentistry, and is the only dentist in South Dakota to have earned Diplomate status with the American Orthodontic Society — a reflection of 550 hours of specialized orthodontic training. He completes over 200 hours of continuing education each year to stay current in the field.
A graduate of the Air Force Academy, Dr. Hunstad served as an F-16 fighter pilot for the United States Air Force and later earned his Master's Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. After 10 years of active duty, his family returned to the Midwest, where he opened his own practice and worked part-time for the South Dakota National Guard — 27 years of military service in all.
Dr. Hunstad has two grown children: Lauren, who has started her own photography business, and Eric, who continued the family tradition and joined Top Gum Dental as a dentist himself.
